Melissa A. Aguilar

Melissa A. Aguilar has been named the new Executive Director for the Region 1 Workforce Investment Board. Aguilar is an MBA graduate of Averett University and has held positions both in the private and public sector. She originally started with Region 1 in 2001, accepted a position with the West Virginia Development Office, but eventually came “back home” in 2005.

As an individual who grew up in the southern part of West Virginia, she states, “My heart has always been here. I am passionate about creating opportunity in southern West Virginia and I feel very proud to be representing the Region 1 Workforce Investment Board. I’ve had the opportunity to work all over the state of West Virginia, and there is no place that you find partnership, hospITA (Individual Training Account / Scholarship)lity, and enthusiasm as you do in Region 1.”

Region 1 covers the 11 south-eastern counties of Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, Webster, and Wyoming.
